52 Weeks of Lolita! ~ What is the story behind your discovery of Lolita fashion?

 Hello my little Shortcakes! ^w^

Today I'm back on my blog with another prompt from the 52 weeks of Lolita challenge! ~ The subject for this week si really interesting to me and I really love sharing about it from time to time (even if I did talk about it in this blog in the past!).

This time, the subject is...

What is the story behind your discovery of Lolita fashion?

So I discovered Lolita fashion in the beginning of the year 2009!

Back in the days, I used to own a Skyblog (that definitely shows my age here! XD) and I would be a bit familiar with Harajuku/Japanese fashion because I was following all kinds of alternative people.

I was also a emo/scene back in the days; I was pretty much was you would call a "lifestyle emo" from 2005 to 2008. XD; Of course, because I was into such darker styles I was also interested in Gothic, Punk and Visual-Kei fashion too!

In the beginning of 2009 I kinda wanted to change my style to a more... Decora/Fruits vibe because I was getting tired of darker styles. I began to research a lot more about Harajuku fashion and Japanese styles! ~

During that time, I was also doing some research on Victorian and Romantic Gothic fashion because I wanted to wear something along those lines for my prom! ^w^

This is where I came across Gothic Lolita and Mana-sama! :3

I didn't clue into the fact that Lolita fashion, Fruits and Decora were all Harajuku fashions because the vibes were SO different to me! And that's how I also learned about all the other Lolita substyles like Sweet Lolita and Classic Lolita! ~

So yeah, that would be how I discovered Lolita fashion! ^w^

And that would be the timeline;

November 2008; Learned about Harajuku Fashion.

Beginning of 2009; Changed my style to Decora/Fruits/Harajuku inspired. XD;

March 2009; Discovered Gothic Lolita.

May 2009; Discovered that there is other Lolita styles other than Gothic XD;

June 2009; My "first Lolita outfit" aka my prom outfit aka my ita phase... >w<

August 2009; Decided to quit wearing fashion that is not Decora/Lolita. I also discovered about the Lolita lifestyle! And also the month I chose to be my "Lolita Birthday"! ^w^

September 2009; I discover Lolita brands and Lolita-specific shops!

October 2009; I get bloomers and an actual petticoat! XD; Also the month I started to wear exclusively Lolita everyday and I started to call myself a lifestyle Lolita! :3

And yes, I totally had to go back and look at the dates on my old Lolita blog... XD;

I can't believe it was more than 12 years ago, it honestly feels like it was last year! ;w; My love for Lolita fashion haven't gone away at all since the day I wore my first outfit! ~ It's still my reason to get up in the morning and to strive to be the best version of myself everyday! ^w^

And you, how did you discover Lolita fashion? :3 Tell me about it in the comments! ~

Until next time my little Shortcakes, stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita! ~ What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever incorporated into a coord, or the weirdest material you’ve ever worn?

Hello my little Shortcakes! ~

Today I'm blogging again with a prompt from the 52 Weeks of Lolita! ^w^ This time, the subject is...

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever incorporated into a coord, or the weirdest material you’ve ever worn?

Firstly, if you've seen one of my last 52 Weeks of Lolita post about the Lolita "rules", you already know that I am not someone that stray out of my way with my Lolita outfits! ^w^'' I much more prefer playing with colour scheme and the theme of my accessories rather than coming up with more experimental coords...

BUT I did wear quite a few "out there" accessories with my coords, especially back when I started the fashion and I wanted to be a OTT Sweet Princess! XD; I'm going to try and dig them for this blog post... (This should be very interesting and/or embarrassing, we will see! XD)

One of the first exemples that came to my mind was when I wore actual gift wrapping ribbon in my hair for my birthday dinner in 2011? XD; It definitely could have been worse... But I never did it again... ^w^'' It was kinda cute though?

I also remember this "Cat Lady" coord I did with my Vanilla-chan OP where I wore a full on wool scarf, inside the house, for fun? XD; I genuinely don't know why I liked wool scarves so much back in the days? ^w^'' This was back in 2013! ~

Other than that, except wearing themed animal ears for fun I don't think I ever wore something that was considered weird for a Lolita coord! ^w^''

That make me think that I honestly wish I was more adventurous with my coords! ~ I have a couple of accessories that I own but I haven't incorporated into a coord yet just because I don't know how to make it work... ;w; Sometimes, you really gotta let the "rules" stay at the door and have fun, I think! :3 I want to try that in the future for sure! ^w^

Do you have something "weird" that you incorporated into your daily outfits? Let me know in the comments! ~

Until next time my little Shortcakes, stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita! ~ How strict are you in applying the rules to yourself? To others?

Hello my little Shortcakes! ^w^

Today, I'm back on my blog again with another prompt from the 52 Weeks of Lolita challenge! ~ This time, the subject is...

How strict are you in applying the rules to yourself? To others?

Honestly, this subject is very interesting for me because I've been into Lolita fashion for almost 12 years now and sometimes the longer people are into the fashion, the more flexible they are with "The Rules"! Often they will try to be much more experimental with the fashion; Mixing "normie" elements with their outfits or trying to mix different styles with Lolita fashion! And most of the time, they are doing it so nicely and beautifully, I am admiring them so much for that! ~

But, for me personally I really love some kind of "cookie cutter" coordinates! ^w^'' I genuinely love when everything matches perfectly; the colours, the theme and the textures! I am not someone that does experiment with Lolita fashion that much, at least not as much as other more experienced Lolitas does!

So overall I think that for me I really like to stick to the rules when it comes to Lolita fashion! The only "Rule" I've been trying to bypass lately have been animal ears with Lolita fashion, simply because I like it so much! :3 Whenever I see a themed coordinate, I feel like it's been something that is much more acceptable lately! ^w^

Now, for others... I've always been someone that is more into the "let people do whatever they want" mindset! XD; But, of course if someone is trying to put together a proper Lolita outfit, I think it's better if they stick to the "Rules" and try to do at least a handful or proper outfits before they go into the experimenting route! Especially if their goal is to be a proper Lolita, that is! :3

But other than that, I really like seeing more experimental coordinates from other people! ~ I love seeing the creativity of other people with their outfits in the fashion and it's something I really admire a lot, even if it's not something I would do myself! ^w^

And you; how strict are you with the Lolita rules? :3 Tell me about it in the comments! ~

Until next time my little Shortcakes, please stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita! ~ What are the top 10 things you love most about Lolita?

Hello my little shortcakes! :3

I'm back on my blog today with another prompt from the 52 Lolita Challenge! ^w^ The one from this week is very inspiring to me and I think it can also help me bring a little bit more gratitude into my life which is always important! ~

What are the top 10 things you love most about Lolita?

I'm going to list the 10 first that come to my mind, in no particular order! :3

1. ~ How it makes me feel! <3

I have never encountered something else in my life that made me feel as confident and happy as Lolita! It bring me so much joy and makes me feel so good about myself. ;w; It's hard to describe how powerful it is, it's like I am my own living dream and I am going to live forever for that! ^w^

2. ~ It gives me a reason to get up in the morning and to never give up no matter what!

Both clothing-wise and lifestyle-wise! Back when I was feeling at my worst I was holding on just so I could wear my pretty frilly clothes on that day. Being a lifestyle Lolita gives me a sense of purpose and a goal in life! :3

3. ~ The friendships I made along the way!

I wanted to put "the community" at first, but it really is all the friendships I made because of my passion, not only with other Lolitas but also with people that are into Japanese culture and geeky stuff! ^w^

4. ~ The lifestyle! <3

How could this not be the first one on the list? XD; The Lolita lifestyle is really one of things that matter most to me in life. It is so aligned with how I want to be as a person and it's one of the things that mainly shaped who I am today and I am very, very grateful for that!

5. ~ The knowledge I acquired!

Not only about how to coordinate the clothes but knowledge about everything that is related to the lifestyle! How to throw together a nice Tea Party, how to have successful social media to reach people, knowledge about hairstyles, makeup, where to shop, etc...! ^w^

6. ~ Lolita meetups! ^w^

I loooove hosting meetups for my local community! ;w; It makes me feel so proud and happy! If you would have told Tomoyo from a decade ago that she would have started her own little Lolita community here in Saguenay and that she was going to host meetups with some beautiful Lolitas and Oujis I would never have believed her! XD; It's one of the thing I am the most proud of in life, I think! ~

7. ~ How the clothes fit on my body!

I was always one that was very insecure about not only my body size but the shape of it. I am kind of an inverted triangle according to my measurements and that used to make me so self-conscious as a teenager... ^w^'' But I think that's why I love the fashion so much! With the poof of the petticoat and how the dresses and skirts fit to my body, it gave my body the shape that I love! :3 I also don't feel as self-conscious about my size anymore because I feel like the clothes really suit me! ^w^

8. ~ How you have to think about every little detail in an outfit!

I've always been someone that love the details about every little thing in life in general! XD; But with Lolita fashion, I love who you have to think about everything; the colours, the placement of the accessories, the themes, the textures, your hairstyle, your makeup, your poses, even down to the perfume you chose to wear on that day! <3

9. ~ It is unique!

Every Lolita I know is unique in their own way! People can say all they want about the rules, but I love how each Lolita is able to make their outfit their own with their personal touches. Some of them have very signature looks, the way they coordinate accessories or do their makeup or style their hair! :3 It's so fun to see the personality of everyone through their outfits! <3

10. ~ How it saved my life...

Honestly, I say it all the time when it is brought up... Lolita fashion and especially the lifestyle have saved my life. It appeared on my path in a time when I needed the most and for that I will be eternally grateful! <3

I hope you had fun joining me in written form today! :3

If you are also a Lolita, what are the things you love the most about it? ^w^ Tell me about it in the comments! ~

Until next time my little shortcakes, stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita ~ Does your style change with the seasons, or do you dress the same and try to bear the cold/heat?

Hello my little shortcakes! ^w^

I'm back today in written form with another prompt from the 52 weeks of Lolita challenge! ~ The prompt today is...

Does your style change with the seasons, or do you dress the same and try to bear the cold/heat?

I am going to be a little bit boring this time and I'm going to be honest with you; I don't really dress according to the weather that much? XD;

I am someone that isn't really bothered by extreme weather, either cold or hot so I don't really change my outfit plans depending on the temperature! ^^''

I may be more careful and chose to wear a skirt or an OP if it's a really hot day in the summer so I don't "double layer" with a blouse under my jumperskirt, but otherwise it doesn't change that much.

The thing that is fluctuating the most with the seasons for me is usually the styles and the prints that I am going to wear!

For exemple, I tend to not wear Country Lolita or my flowery/gingham prints in the winter just because I don't find them season appropriate that much?

Same thing for my Snowbunny jumperskirt that I don't usually wear when there isn't snow... Or my Happy Garden skirt that I only wear around Easter/Springtime! ~

I may do some exceptions sometimes if I feel like it but I try to dress seasonally, but only with the theme of my outfits, not the weather necessarily! ^^;

So I hope you liked my little insight today!

If you wear alternative fashion yourself; Does your style change with the season? Tell me about it in the comments! :3

Until next time my little shortcakes, stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita ~ What do you think constitutes Lolita etiquette or good manners?

 Hello my little shortcakes! :3

I'm back on my blog today because I felt like I haven't written a prompt from this challenge in a whiiiile! XD; I've been missing blogging more regularly so I hope you enjoy my written content also! ^w^ The subject for today will be...

What do you think constitutes Lolita etiquette or good manners?

I think that this is something very personal to each and every Lolita! I'm going to try and share some that are the most important to me or that I try to preach personally! :3

Do your best to keep your underwear (bloomers, petticoat) hidden, have a nice posture, try not to slouch!

I know it's not easy for everyone to do for multiple reasons... But in formal situations, especially during meetups and when you take pictures I think that you should try to keep your underwear hidden and have a nice posture. It will help your clothes look suit you better and it will definitely look more elegant! ^^; Sometimes accidents happen *thank you, windy days* but when in Lolita I always try to keep my legs together or at least make sure that we don't see my bloomers or petticoat when I sit down! :3

Do not critique outfits, except when asked!

As goes the saying; if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! And if someone asks for critiques on their coords or how to improve I always try to point out the things they do right instead of only pointing out their mistakes! Sometimes it can be hard to get a grasp on the fashion at first and it's easy to get discouraged because of that... So I think it's important to also celebrate the good points instead of just bringing up what isn't quite right yet! ~

Always try to be friendly to other Lolitas and especially newcomers!

You never know how far someone is on their Lolita journey or how they discovered the fashion! I think it's important to make everyone feel welcome and at home in your community, especially when it comes to local communities. Give everyone their chances to learn and if you have experience in Lolita fashion I think that you should try your best to be a great ressource for our little sisters/siblings! ^w^

On the same train of thoughts...

Try your best to be kind to strangers when going out in Lolita!

I'm always trying my best to be polite with strangers that asks questions about my style, our Lolita community or kindly ask me for pictures... But my kindness drop when their respect do! XD; If people are polite with me, I'm going to be polite with them... Otherwise they are going to get my death glare and nobody wants that isn't it? ^w^''

I think that is all I can think of at the moment! :3

Do you have any other in mind? ~ Please tell me about them in the comments, I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject! ^w^

Until next time my little shortcakes, stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita ~ What does the phrase “Lolita lifestyle” mean to you, and do you adhere to it?

 Hello my wonderfully soft kitten paws! :3

I'm back on my blog today with another 52 weeks of Lolita! ~ The subject this week is very exciting to me and if you know me you'll get why! ^w^

~ What does the phrase “Lolita lifestyle” mean to you, and do you adhere to it? ~

Well, if you know me or you've looked at this blog a bit, you know that I consider myself a Lifestyle Lolita since the last decade! I've talked several times about the Lolita lifestyle on my blog with my Lolita Lifestyle 101 series but my posts were more informational and inspirational than personal, indeed! ^w^

So I guess that today is the time to open up my heart about it! ~

To me, Lolita lifestyle is something incredibly precious. Lolita fashion and especially the lifestyle came at a point in my life where I didn't had any goals in life... I didn't think my life or myself had any value or meaning... When I discovered the Lolita lifestyle, I decided that that would be my ultimate life goal! I felt like it was almost like a spiritual calling, a vocation and a message from the universe that I would have finally found my place in the world! ^^;

I know that the Lolita lifestyle is something personal to each and every one of us, but to me it really centers around three key points! ~

~ Wearing Lolita fashion (or Otome) daily!

I think it would be really hard to have a proper Lolita lifestyle for me without wearing Lolita fashion most of the time. I can definitely feel Lolita without all my frills, but wearing it on the daily helps a lot! ^w^ I helps me feel true to myself and my values; even if it's hard, even if some days I don't feel like dressing up all fancy... In the end I know it's going to make me happy and make my day a lot better!

~ Trying my best to make every aspect of my life suit the Lolita aesthetics!

As I am mostly a Sweet Lolita I can usually get away with anything on the Kawaii side, basically! XD; If I have the choice and it doesn't cost a lot more or doesn't require more effort, I'll pretty much always chose to surround myself with cute or elegant things or at least things that are suited to my colour scheme (usually white or lighter colours).

Most of my hobbies are also suitable to Lolita aesthetic also; Playing cute videogames, watching anime, journaling, reading, cooking/baking, watercolours, tending to my garden, etc... Of course I don't force myself to have hobbies that I don't like or enjoy, but I looked at some that would be suited to the Lolita lifestyle and I try to experiment with some that I think would be fun! ^w^

~ Embracing values that are related to the lifestyle and living according to the Princess Code!

I recently made a blog post about that subject! ^w^ The values related to the Lolita lifestyle really helped me shape myself as a person and become more aligned with what I wanted to be! It gave me something to strive for and work towards. The Princess Code is also very dear to me because it helped me find self-love and practice self-care when I wasn't able to do it in my life! ~

I really think that is an aspect of the Lolita lifestyle that is often overlooked. Most of the lifestyle Lolitas I know aren't doing it for other people or to post pretty pictures of their surroundings to Instagram; they are doing it for themselves, because it help them feel happier and more aligned with who they want to be! :3

I hope you enjoyed my little insight on the subject! ^w^ And to you my lovely readers, are you a lifestyle Lolita? Would you like to be one? ~ Leave me a comment, they are always appreciated! :3

Until next time my pretty lilac bows, stay safe and take care! :3

52 Weeks of Lolita ~ What style do you think it's the most underrated and why?

 Hello my yummy salted caramel cookies! ^w^

Today on my blog I'm going to do another 52 weeks of Lolita prompt, yay! ~ The subject for this week is...

~ What style do you think it's the most underrated and why? ~

I think that my answer might not be an unpopular opinion... It's Punk Lolita! ^w^

I think there are various reasons why this style is underrated in my opinion...

First of all, we usually tell beginners that the substyles of Lolita that are more tricky to be pulled off by beginners should be avoided until you get a more familiar grip with the fashion as a whole. And often the newbies that try these styles without having a good knowledge of Lolita fashion first often end up... not looking their best... ^w^''

However, I think that once you get the fashion and how to put a great coordinate together, you can have so much fun, experiment and not be afraid of tastefully breaking the rules a bit to make your coordinate more interesting! ~

I also think that people might not often share their punk coordinates that much because of how uncommon it is. Some of us like to experiment and push things a little bit more far creatively and that's okay! :3 But maybe people don't share these more experimental coordinates as much because they are afraid of getting some criticism that is unwanted or that is trying to put them back into the cookie cutter Lolita mold? I don't really know since I don't experiment that much but that's my little theory, haha! ^w^''

Do you guys agree with me? :3 What is the most underrated Lolita substyle in your opinion? ^w^

Until next time my cute fluffy puppies, stay safe and take care! ~

52 Weeks of Lolita ~ How would you describe Lolita fashion to a curious person you met in passing?

 Hello my colourful music notes! :3

Today I'm going to continue my 52 weeks of Lolita posts! ~ The subject this week is...

How would you describe Lolita fashion to a curious person you met in passing? ~

I would usually modify my answer a little bit depending on what kind of question the person is asking and how they approach me... I think that I've never gave the same answer twice! XD; Because I usually answer and react according to my guts and what my instincts tell me...

If I am by myself and the person seem genuinely just curious and interested; I would say that it's a Japanese fashion inspired by Rococo and Victorian eras but with a modern and cute twist!

If we are in a group/during a meetup; I usually say that we just like to dress up nicely together.

If the person is asking/talking about my "costume"; I usually correct them by saying that it's not a costume and it's just my daily clothes.

If the person is a little bit rude/invasive; I say that it's just my clothes or to leave me alone or I just ignore them... XD;

I think that's pretty much it, haha! ^^ I usually keep my answers short because I'm not very comfortable talking to strangers in public... I am someone that is very reserved and shy so I try to avoid conversations as much as possible. ^w^''

Until next time my pretty pink roses, stay safe and take care! <3

52 Weeks of Lolita ~ What is your favourite brand and why?

 Hello my lovely and warm pumpkin spice lattés! ^^;

As you may have seen during the last few weeks I was in a bit of a blogging slump on my blog... But, my friend Érika showed me a blog; Loliprompts! They have all kinds of prompts for blogging and that's exactly what I needed! :3

So today I decided I would start the 52 Weeks of Lolita! I may skip some weeks if I feel like the subject doesn't apply to me or I may post several in a week if the answer to the prompt is on the shorter side! ^w^

~ What is your favourite brand and why? ~

Firstly, if you have been following me for a while, you may notice that I am far from a brandwhore... XD; The reason for that is obvious; The clothing pieces from all the Lolita brands doesn't fit me, at all... I am a very plus-sized person by Lolita fashion standards and I have been for my whole Lolita journey. So that's why I never really felt attached to Japanese brands because of that...

I still have my favourite designs and aesthetics related to Japanese brands though! I also own a couple of non-clothing items from Japanese brands too so I'm going to list my favourites according to that! ^^

I used to really admire Angelic Pretty when I was starting Lolita more than 10 years ago! ^^ It was the golden era of OTT Sweet and that was all that I was about back in the days! XD; I used to dream of their bright coloured prints full of cute animals, candy, stars and hearts! :3 I was very happy when I could get my grabby hands on my first print replica from Angelic Pretty! Finally, I could be as cute and Over The Top as the beautiful girls I would see on their GLB ads and on their website! I didn't have to "settle for less" anymore and that made me incredibly happy! For once I thought I was the Lolita of my dreams, that I was part of that fairytale and that I wasn't going to be the ugly duckling forever... ^^''

However, nowadays I don't think Angelic Pretty is the brand that I look up to the most anymore... I am not up to date with their recent releases and I haven't been for several years. Now that their Sweet OTT goodness have passed I don't have as much interest in them for the past years.

In the past year or so, I would say that my interest kind of shifted towards Baby The Stars Shine Bright! As a lifestyle Lolita, I think that BTSSB is the brand the represent the Lolita lifestyle the most! Who doesn't want to feel like Momoko, right? ^w^ I love their older designs and the pieces that are very reminiscent of Old-School Lolita. ~ I especially have a very soft spot in my heart for all their Usakumya related merch! ^w^

I mean, who doesn't want cute bunny slippers? XD;

Nowadays I think BTSSB would be the brand that I look the most up to! I really wish I could get my hands on more of their non-clothing items in the future! ^^

I also want to mention a couple of other brands that I like but they wouldn't really be my favourites! ~

I love Innocent World and their take on Sweet-Classic! Even their simpler pieces are made with such nice quality materials from what I have seen. In my personal experience, they are the highest quality of all the brands I've got the chance to see in person! I really wish I could order something from them one day, I've also heard that they have amazing customer service! ^w^

I'm sorry but I'm guilty of loving Metamorphose wacky designs! XD; They also have some pretty nice sweet prints too and they are always creative and colourful! :3

I also need to list Mam Maxicimam as an honorable mention, especially because they got exactly ONE dress that could fit me at my current size! ^^''

The faithful dress! XD;

To be honest, the simpler design doesn't really justify the price for me, (Over 400$ CAD without shipping... ^w^'') however if I had unlimited funds I would probably get it! XD; A girl can dream, right? ^w^''

I also have to finish my honorable mentions with a non-Japanese brand! XD; Especially because that is more accurate to my situation since I actually own 4 dresses from Soufflesong now! ^w^ I would say that if I have to chose one favourite brand clothing wise, it would be them! I love their original prints, their designs and of course the fact that they can offer custom-sized pieces so I can actually wear their clothes! XD;

Do you have a favourite brand or store to shop at for your clothing, Lolita or not? ~ Don't be shy, tell me in the comments below! ^w^

Until next time my pink fluffy blankets, stay safe and take care! <3

10 Years of Lolita Lifestyle ~ Q & A!

Hello my lovely puffy clouds! :3

I'm back on my blog today with the (probably long awaited! XD) Lolita lifestyle Q&A! ^w^

As I mentioned in one of my blog posts earlier this month, August this year is the month where I celebrate my 10th year as a daily and lifestyle Lolita! :3 So for the occasion I decided to throw a little Lolita Lifestyle Q&A! ~

I asked people for questions on Instagram and Facebook and I received quite a bit of questions that were pretty interesting so I am very excited to answer them for you! ^w^

So, without further ado let's start! :3

What is the value that you consider the most important that you developed because of Lolita fashion?

Honestly, I think it would be kindness. ~ Lolita fashion and especially the lifestyle made me change my mind to see the beauty in every person and the "good" in everyone and every situation and I think it makes me the strong person I am today. :3

How do you survive the crippling heat with those sweet layers of clothes?

I kind of did a blog post about it last year! (Click here!) But as for more personal tips; I limit my outfits to a single layer of clothes (skirt/blouse or an OP) on hotter days. I wear my hair in pigtails so that they don't cover my neck. I try my best to stay hydrated when I know I'm going to be outside. I try to stay inside air-conditioned buildings or in the shade when I am out. Finally, I also make sure to give myself plenty of "off-times" when I don't wear the fashion on hotter days (I change to lighter clothes/no petticoat when I am back at home and/or I'll only wear the fashion when I am out).

Your best Lolita experience?

I would say the first "bigger" Lolita meetup I organized in my city two years ago! ~ I never imagined I could have such a flourishing Lolita community locally and in my mind we could never have a local Lolita community with more than 3 or 4 members at best (and I would have been happy with that!) but we were like 7 and 6 of us were wearing amazing Lolita/Ouji/EGL outfits and I was so baffled and proud of me for listening to my inner voice and starting the community here! :3 I think it's still one of the best days of my life and I feel very grateful about my local community everyday! ^w^

What is your favourite type of accessory?

Head eating giant headbows! XD; I love them and how they became kind of my "trademark" in my Lolita outfits back in the days! :3 I also really like wearing wristcuffs, I think that they are the most "Lolita like" accessory to me. ~

What would you say to people that think that they don’t have enough confidence to try Lolita fashion?

I personally liked myself way more in Lolita clothes than in my "normal" clothes at the time when I started the fashion so the clothes only gave me a huge confidence boost and I didn't feel self-conscious about them. So the biggest advice I can give is to fake it until you make it. Be ready to affirm your style, your choices and what you love about them! Life is too short to hide behind clothes you don't like! :3

How you first started Lolita and what is the first piece you got?

I discovered the fashion when I was searching out for victorian dresses inspiration for my prom dress and I came across Mana-sama wearing Gothic Lolita so I designed a dress inspired by the fashion and I had it custom made for me by a local tailor for my prom! ^w^ When I tried on my dress I felt like I was the most beautiful girl in the world and I decided to I wouldn't let any other clothes make me feel otherwise. So during the summer I scavenged the closet of my grandmothers for Loliable blouses and I handmade a couple of skirts (which were more Otome than Lolita) but I felt so happy and accomplished and I never looked back. XD;

As for my first piece I got, it was this headdress by In The Starlight that I got along my first petticoat and a couple of pair of bloomers.

For the main pieces, it was that pink OP by Anna House along with that black and white skirt (and I think I also got bloomers and/or socks from that order, I don't remember exactly ^w^'').

What do you think of online communities?

Personally, I think that they can be sometimes a bit toxic if you are someone (like I used to be) that can take things to heart. (Well, I still do but nowadays it's easier for me just ignore what I don't like or what I don't agree with and to walk to the beat of my own drum.) I think that they can be useful for inspiration and ressources but be sure you have a thick skin if you want to post or share online.

What lolita themes, colour schemes or accessories do you keep coming back to?

My closet is pretty cohesive so I have minimal themes to chose from (it's also easier for me to plan outfits XD). But I think stars and sweets are the themes that I tend to wear the most. ~ As for the colour schemes, I'll always be more drawn to the typical White x Pink or Pink x Lilac colour scheme for my Sweet Lolita outfits but I liked to experiment more with creative and unusual colour schemes in the past years! ^w^ (As for accessories I already answered a similar question earlier. :3)

What are your favourite ways of expressing the Lolita lifestyle?

Definitely having tea and tea parties! ^w^ I love my little morning or evening tea ritual. ~ I also like going out for picnics, visiting museums, art galleries or historical places. :3 I also like to host events for my Lolita community and blogging about the fashion and my lifestyle! :3 Baking and cooking are also a very important part of my Lolita lifestyle too! ~ Finally, playing Lolita-ish games like Style Savvy and watching magical girl animes really makes me feel more lifestyle Lolita. ^w^

In being dedicated daily to your style, is there some things that you find harder to keep up with?

Laundry... XD; And keeping my clothes in good shape also. ^w^'' I often forget to wash stains on my clothes as they are fresh so I have to take care of them weeks later and I feel bad about it. XD; I also tend to forget to sew back on loose bows or buttons so some of my pieces will get unused for months until I remember to take care of that. ^w^''

How did the fashion change during the last 10 years (trends, communities, etc…)

I also did a Lolita Blog Carnival about this topic last year (and it haven't really changed much since that time) so I'll refer you to my old blog post, hehe. (Click here!)

Tell us about your local community!

Well, they are one of the most precious things in the world for me honestly. ^w^'' I've seen them progress through the years and improve their style and coordinating skills and I always feel so proud of them and what they are becoming. :3 I like the fact that we are all friends and we get along pretty well. ~ We always have a lot of fun during our activities and I couldn't wish for a more perfect local Lolita and Ouji squad! XD;

What did the Lolita lifestyle brought you?

Lots of self-confidence and affirmation. ~ A way of seeing the world with a different sight each day and the power to create happiness and beautiful moments from the most simple and trivial things. I feel like it helped me to find my core values as a person and something I can strive and protect. It gives me a reason to wake up in the morning and to never give up no matter how hard life can be sometimes. ~ If I may say so, it's probably the reason I am still there today. ;3;

Did you had to give up things (to become a lifestyle Lolita)? Do you regret it?

Well, I obviously had to give up on having a regular "grown up and mature" lifestyle I must say. XD; (But to be fair, I never was attracted by that kind of thing in the first place...) I knew that I wanted to wear the fashion daily so I had to find a field of study and a job that would allow me to dress exactly how I wanted. ^w^'' But I don't regret it the slightest; becoming a lifestyle Lolita is one of the things I am the most proud about in my life and it kind of became my identity at that point and I couldn't be happier with it! ^w^

I hope that this little Q&A have answered the questions you may have about being a daily and lifestyle Lolita. :3

Until next time my cuddly bear plushies, take cake! ~

I've been a lifestyle Lolita for 10 years! ~

Hello my perfectly sweet strawberries! ~

I wanted to take the time today to write a little emotional blog post about something that is very important and dear to me... As the title says, this month is the month where I celebrate my 10th year as a daily and lifestyle Lolita! :3

I remember the young Tomoyo that had just finished high school, with her head full of frilly dreams and her eyes full of sparkles. I knew that I wanted to be a Lolita for as long as I could, but I would never have imagined that it would last that long... I had this feeling that one day "the real world" would take advantage of me and crush me while I let these new blooming flowers wilt before I could do anything...

Yet here I am, 10 years after, still wearing my cute frilly clothes, my lovely armor of battle to face the world pretty much everyday! ~

I don't know if it's something I should be proud about, but I feel extremely proud of myself. I feel proud because I had the courage to keep doing what I love and never give up, I had the courage to find a job that would allow me to wear the frilly clothes that are so dear to my heart, I had the courage to pursue my dreams even if everyone told me to give up, I had the courage to stand up for what I believe in even if the world seemed to be against me sometimes... ;w;

I know that the young 16-17 years old me would be proud. I know that I am walking pretty much exactly the path I dreamed of walking back in the days...

Having my pretty little pastel home filled with plushies, cute toys and flowery antique teacups, having the luck to wake up every morning to the smile of a lovely partner who I call my Prince, getting to work everyday wearing exactly the outfit I feel comfortable and confident in without having to tone it down, meeting up monthly (and locally!) with a community of gorgeous frilly friends that I created myself...

This is the dream that I wanted to achieve. My younger self had that dream but she knew it was silly... She wanted it to happen but she knew it would be harder to achieve... And yet here I am! ;w;

I have so much courage and determination within me that I never knew about... But I am not selfish. I know that right now I am living pretty much what I would call my dream life, but I want others to benefit of it too! So that's why I want to be an inspiration for others. That's why I share my life here, the Lolita meetups, my daily outfits... It's to inspire people that were like the young Tomoyo to pursue their dreams too! ~ If we keep believing in our dreams, we have the power to keep making the sad grey world a wonderful fairytale from our own imagination! :3

I really wanted to reflect on that this month and it took a while to gather my thoughts in order... But that was only the first part of this little "10 years of lifestyle Lolita" celebration! ^w^ I'm going to have a big Q&A about being a daily/lifestyle Lolita post up as soon as I can too! :3

Until next time, take care my beautiful daisies! ~

Lolita Blog Carnival! ~ What Types Of Topics Would You Like Covered In A Lolita Panel?

Hello my pretty pastel gingham hearts! :3

Today on my blog I'm going to participate in another Lolita Blog carnival for this week! ~

The subject for this week was pretty interesting for me since I am putting up together two Lolita panels for the SagGeek this year again so I thought it would be nice to participate in it and also share some other inputs from other Lolitas! ^w^

What Types Of Topics Would You Like Covered In A Lolita Panel?

For a little bit of context; I only went to about 2 or 3 Lolita panels at conventions so I don't have a lot of experience in it, but I thought it would be nice to point out things that was a bit "missing" from the Lolita panels I went to as well as some personal preferences. ~

I won't really cover the basic like what's the element of an outfit, the different styles and where to get the clothes because I really think that they are staples in a basic Lolita panel and I thought it would be nice to share some different input and perspective. :3

Ressources/shops for plus-sized Lolitas

As a plus-sized Lolita, this go without saying that this is very important to me to mention. I also realized that "plus-size" in Lolita starts a bit below of what it would be considered plus-size here in Canada when I saw some of my friends which were regular-sized needed to get custom sized clothes. ^w^'' So I was surprised that this was some information and ressources very much needed for a panel, it can also helps everyone with unusual measurements or proportions.

Also, for the bigger end of plus-sized, it always nice to know that there are ressources for us and that we aren't a lost cause. XD; For exemple, recommendation on where to get custom sized everything, custom sized winter coats and boots and the like. Also where can we get shoes for wider feet or socks that fit big calves. ~

Information about the Lolita Lifestyle

As a lifestyle Lolita, this is also something that I think is very overlooked in Lolita panels. I think it would be nice to have some information about the Lolita lifestyle and the hobbies that fit into the aesthetic of the fashion. How can someone "Lolify" their lives and become more of a lifestyle Lolita if they are interested in it. ~ What are the values related to the lifestyle? How can someone become a better lifestyle Lolita?

It would maybe be interesting to mention how can someone adapt Lolita fashion to their daily lives. How can someone wear the fashion on a regular basis and what they can expect when they do so.

Information about meetups, meetup etiquette, etc...

This is a subject that I plan to cover in my advanced Lolita panel this year! XD; But I think it's something that I really should have touched on more on my previous panels. I think that meetup etiquette is something that, as an experienced Lolita, I feel like it's common sense but it may not be for newcomers. It's always nice to have information about Lolita meetups and how you should plan one properly and things to know to make the meetups a success! ^w^

Lolita in the Media

Another subject that I plan to cover in my advanced Lolita panel! ~ I thought it would be nice for newer Lolitas to find some outfit inspiration and where they can find Lolita related medias. I would mention the obvious Kamikaze Girls movie but also popular Lolita models, bloggers and Youtubers around the world, magasines on the fashion, etc...

So that's pretty much all I could think about that wasn't too obvious for me! XD; Before you go, please take a look at the other blogs that participated in the Lolita Blog Carnival this week and show them some love! :3

Until next time my precious heart shaped chocolate cookies! :3

Lolita Blog Carnival! ~ What Would Be An Item Or Accessory That You Wish You Had More Of?

Hello my cutie kitten ears! ~

Today I join another Lolita Blog Carnival! ^w^ I haven't done one in a long while and I thought it would be interesting to do one this week! :3 The subject for this time was...

What Would Be An Item Or Accessory That You Wish You Had More Of?

It was hard for me at first to pinpoint what I "miss" in my closet since I am pretty happy with the pieces I've got and I know I can mix and match a lot of things in my closet... But I thought that this was the perfect time to dream and pinpoint what would my "Dream Closet" would look like, ideally! ^w^

Country Lolita Pieces

I love Country Lolita and it's pretty much my go-to style for the warmer months since I discovered it! ^w^ However I think I don't have many pieces that nicely fit the aesthetic of the style... Sure I can always wear my strawberry prints or some more plain pieces in a Country coordinate, but I really wish I would have more jumperskirts and OPs with gingham or pretty summery flowers! *v* Ideally I would like I have at least one flowery OP in pink, white or blue, two jumperskirts in blue and lilac with gingham or flowers on them and two other skirts in blue in lilac with gingham and/or flowers. :3

Sailor Lolita Pieces

I only have one Sailor Lolita OP and one Sailor Lolita blouse, I really wish I had more! ;w; Sailor Lolita isn't one of my favourite styles but I really love how it looks on me and how it can be sweetened up! XD; It also reminds me of the Old-School Lolita days too which are very dear to my heart! ;o; Ideally I would like to add at least another Sailor blouse, in blue. I would also love to have a blue or blue and white Sailor OP. ~ I think that a Sailor Lolita cutsew would also be very useful for casual days too and I've seen so many cute ones! :3

Cutsews

I only have 3 cutsews in my closet and for someone that wears Lolita fashion on the daily I think it's really not enough! XD; I think that cutsews in blue, lilac and red would be something interesting to add in my closet for more daily coordinates. ~

Yellow Pieces

I thought about for a while and I know that for now it would be too much of a hassle to go on the hunt for them, but I really wish I would have some yellow pieces in my closet. ;w; I don't have any at the moment, but I have a lot of prints with yellow on them and I think it would be a nice colour to add to my closet. ^w^ I also think it would be a nice colour suited for Country Lolita too and it also would match with the colours in my closet I already own! :3

Old-School/Plain Pieces

I already have a lot of them since I went on a shopping spree for them when I was starting university and I wanted to have more casual and versatile pieces in my closet, but I think I still miss a few of them! I don't even have a plain pink jumperskirt in my closet and I've been a Sweet Lolita for nearly 10 years now! XD; I would also want to add another plain pink skirt, a plain blue jumperskirt and a plain blue OP (probably with an appliqué or something fun!).

So that's pretty much what I would generally miss so I would have a dream closet for me! ^w^ Even if I am already happy with what I own, it made me think about the things I would really like to add to my closet so it's even more complete and functional. ~

Lolita Blog Carnival! ~ Create A Lolita Prompt Challenge!

Hello my very sweet sugar cookies! ~

I'm back on my blog by the end of this week for another Lolita Blog Carnival! ^w^ I haven't done those in a while and the subject this week was a bit challenging for me so I decided to give it a go! :3 The subject this week was...

Create A Lolita Prompt Challenge

At first I wanted to do a 30 days prompt challenge, but I thought that I didn't had that much interesting ideas... XD; So I went for a 12 months challenge. ~

There is one Lolita or Lifestyle prompt for every month. ^w^ I thought I would list them and explain them a bit and why I decided to chose them. :3 It's a mix between fashion inspired prompts and more lifestyle Lolita prompts so it's more suited to Lolitas that consider themselves to be lifestyle Lolitas. ~

12 Months of Lolita & Lifestyle

January: What are your Lolita/Lifestyle resolutions?

January is the month of resolutions for everyone and Lolitas are not exempt to that! XD; I thought it would be a nice prompt for January, especially because I think Lolitas doesn't talk a lot about their goals for their wardrobe and their lifestyle very often. ~

February: Share your favourite makeup products from your Lolita makeup routine!

I associate the month of February with romance because of Valentine's day and romance with makeup apparently. XD;

March: What are your favourite tea blends?

The month of March is still very cold here in Canada and my favourite thing to fight the cold months is a yummy cup of tea. :3

April: What are your favourite Lolita bags?

I love bags! XD; I love collecting them. ~ I wish we would talk more about Lolita bags, the more intricate ones and the one that are more practical for daily Lolitas. :3

May: Share a favourite recipe.

With the Loliday around the corner, I thought that the month of May would be perfect to share our recipe for the Lolita potlucks, Tea Parties and picnics! ^w^

June: What are your favourite Loliday/meetup memory?

This one is pretty self-explanatory. XD; I always like to read about other Lolitas favourites memories of meetups and cute stories about their communities. :3

July: A fictional character that inspire your fashion or lifestyle.

This one was inspired by one of the posts I saw on Rufflechat a while ago that was about the anime characters that would inspire your style... So for the people that aren't into anime I extended it a bit! ^w^ I usually like to get inspired by real Lolitas, but a little inspiration from the fiction is always refreshing. ~

August: Create a coord based on your astrological sign.

August is my birthday month and I used to relate a lot to my astrological sign, so I thought it would be nice to add a little bit of creativity in there by creating a coord around it. ^w^

September: Share something that you created.

I think that the Lolita lifestyle is about putting the Lolita aesthetic in the things you create or craft... September is usually a very inspiring month for me creativity-wise so I thought it would be the perfect prompt for this month!

October: Share a Lolita or lifestyle horror story!

It can be anything related to Lolita or your lifestyle! XD; A broken shoe on the way to a meetup? A hair dye horror story? That time that you brought your most expensive teapot and teacup to a picnic and it broke apart in your bag? ^w^'' (Been there, done that...)

November: Write a poem inspired by the Lolita lifestyle.

It may be a little bit more of a challenge for the Lolitas that doesn't already write or are more into the crafty side of things... But I thought it would make an interesting prompt before the winter Loliday! (You can even share it with others on your Loliday meetup, like we did in our community!)

December: Share some Lolita or lifestyle inspired gift ideas.

I know that there are many lists about gift ideas for Lolitas out there, but one that is a little more personal for you is always useful to have too! ^w^ You can even send it to friends or family! ~

Phew, here it is all complete! ^w^

I hope you liked to take a look at my prompts and it may inspire you for your own blog too if you chose to do my challenge! ~ If you do so, I appreciate if you can link it to my blog or this blog post! :3

Before you go, don't forget to take a look at the other blogs that have participated in this Lolita Blog Carnival and show them some love! ^w^

Until next time my perfectly infused Chai teacups! ~

Lolita Blog Carnival! ~ Share Your Most Worn Dress VS Your Least & Why?

Hello my cute little pumpkins! ~

I wanted to participate in the Lolita Blog Carnival this week because when I saw the subject, it really made me wonder about it for a while... The subject this week is...

Share Your Most Worn Dress VS Your Least & Why?

It was kind of hard to chose a dress that I worn the most... Since I wear Lolita fashion daily, most of my dresses have a very "worn" feeling and I cannot really tell which one is the most worn out... ^w^'' But, when I started to think about it logically and which dress I am the most drawn to, my choice stopped on this one...

Most Worn Dress

Lovely Forest blue jumperskirt by Dream of Lolita

I feel like this dress is really my "go-to" dress on the daily. I never expected one day to like this dress as much as I do. ^w^'' At first when I got it, it was my first "Sweet-Classic" piece and I really didn't like to wear it... It didn't feel like myself! But when I started university and I needed some more daily and casual pieces for school, I started to appreciate this jumperskirt more and more! It also really helps that this dress is one of the most comfy ones that I own! I like that you can dress it up in a very sweet way or wear a more casual outfit with it. ~ It's also one of my favourite jumperskirts to wear for Country Lolita outfits! :3

As for my least worn dress, the choice was a little more obvious. Even if I have dresses that I have worn a bit less than this one, it's mostly because they are newer in my closet and I haven't had some chances to wear them more... I finally decided to chose this one because I knew that I wasn't going to wear it more than I do so now... ^w^''

Least Worn Dress

Little Bears Café pink jumperskirt by Dream of Lolita

I'm really sad to see this dress as my least worn one... ;w; I got it around 3 years ago and I haven't even worn it a handful of times... It's the only dress in my closet with a high waist and it was partly my mistake for getting it despite knowing that I really hate high waists on me and that I find them even more uncomfortable... XD; I really love the print and I like the material, even if it's corduroy and I can't wear it during summer... But it's just so uncomfortable to wear... ^w^'' The dress is also made a bit smaller than most of my other dresses so it's not as roomy and I have trouble wearing it for a long period of time, like for a full day out... I'm even more sad that I got a necklace, a few rings and a pair of wristcuffs specifically for this print and I haven't worn them out yet... ^w^''

So that was my little input on the subject from this week's Lolita Blog Carnival! ~
