Tokyo Treat Box Review! ~ May 2020!

Hello my cute and cuddly kittens! ^^;

Last week after waiting for almost 3 months I received my may Tokyo Treat box! XD; I was debating either I wanted to do a review of it or not since it was so late but I really enjoy doing these so here you go! :3

Here was everything that was in the box! ^^; The theme was non-stop sakura party!

As usual I'm going to review each of the items one by one as I was trying them! ~

~ Chicken Ramen Snacks ~

It's quite crunchy and very salty. You can definitely taste the chicken flavour and it's a very natural taste! I often eat dry ramen like that with added powder to it but for this one the "powder" is already stuck to the dried noodles so it's more evenly distributed.

~ Mike Popcorn Soy Sauce & Butter Flavour ~

The taste of soy sauce with the popcorn is really special and unique! You can also taste the faint taste of butter and it doesn't taste as "cheap" as the popcorn from here! It was really good!

~ Frozen Coca Cola Lemon ~

I feel like this coke is less sweet than the coke we have in Canada. I really liked the faint lemon flavour to it! Sadly I feel like it didn't quite froze like it was supposed to but it was good anyway! XD;

~ Sakura Matcha Collon ~

The sakura cream inside was really really good! It really tasted like sakura flowers, so fancy! ^^; It's really soft and creamy and the filling paired well with the crunchyness of the waffle. I am not usually a fan of matcha but the matcha waffle isn't overpowering. It's not overly sweet either. Very good snack! ^^

~ Hello Kitty Sakura Candy ~

Firstly, the packaging is SO CUTE! I only tasted the apple flavour so far and it's quite good, not too sweet and it taste like apple juice pretty much! XD; The Prince had the Orange one and it tasted like marmalade to him! I also liked the little fortune on the candies, that was cool! XD;

*Since then I had the other flavours and I would say that my favourite is the cherry one! ^^ It tasted really like actual cherries, yum! :3

~ Ham and Potato Porickey ~

The flavour was a bit special but it was quite good! I liked the seasoning on the pretzel stick, it tasted a bit like black pepper and it was tasty! The more that you ate them, the tastier it was it seems, haha! XD;

~ Taro Beans ~

I think I already tasted something similar in the past and I really liked it! It taste a bit like corn puffs and the salty seasoning is so flavourful and tasty! I wish the package was bigger, it's so good and addictive! XD;

~ Burger Gummy ~

We have some candies like this here! ^^ The taste and texture was a bit similar, but I feel like the candy was a little bit better and more tasty? I was expecting it to be sour but it wasn't! (I don't like sour candy! XD)

~ Apple Jelly ~

The taste of apple is very faint and not sweet at all! The jelly was very very soft!

~ Nissin Matcha Coconut Cookies ~

The texture was exceptional! So crunchy and nice! There was a thin layer of melted sugar on the cookie which was delightful! The taste of matcha is really faint and didn't bother me! These cookies were a little more sweet than the Japanese cookies I am used to but I really liked them! ^^; I cannot wait to have some with a cup of tea! ~

~ Senkaku Crackers Vegetable Flavour ~

It kind of taste like the vegetable crackers we have here! The vegetable taste is not overpowering and the texture is nice and crunchy.

~ Sakura Mochi Chocolate ~

This chocolate was really good! ^^ I really like these mochi chocolate, I love the unique texture of the mochi coated with chocolate! The sakura and red bean chocolate was really tasty and it wasn't too sweet, a very delightful combo! :3

~ Choco-Taro ~

It had a light fluffy texture that taste like corn and it's coated with chocolate! There was a peanut inside! ^^;

~ Ramune Candies ~

I got the strawberry one! ^^ The bunny on it is so cute! The ramune candies are more powdery than what I remembered! XD; They were very yummy and the flavour and sweetness is very faint! They were a bit sour too!

~ Umaibo Pollock ~

It tasted a bit spicy, like BBQ almost? With a very faint seafood flavour. I liked this one! ^^

~ Sakura Sake Kitkats ~

I remember having those before in another box! The faint sake taste mixed with the sakura flavour is delightful! The chocolate is so creamy also, very good! :3 I think it's one of my favourite flavours of Kitkat! ^^

~ Cabbage Chips ~

The taste remind me of pork katsu sauce! I cannot seem to taste the cabbage at all? But I remember getting a similar one in another snack box before too! XD;

As usual, I like to do a Top 3 of my favourite snacks from the month with the Prince too! ^^;

Overall I was quite happy with that box, I liked to try some new flavours and luckily get to taste some other  snacks I already tasted before! ^^

Tokyo Treat Box Review! ~ May 2019!

Hello my yummy banana ice cream cones! ^w^

I'm back on my blog today to share with you my review of this month's Tokyo Treat Box! ~ It's been such a long time since I haven't had Japanese snacks and I missed it too much so I got the box from this month! :3

The theme this month was Tutti Fruity so the snacks were mostly themed around fruits! ~ I got the box last week and I tried it out last weekend with the Prince! ^w^

Here is everything we got for this month! :3 I was very excited to try some of them hehe! ~

I wrote my little review of the taste and my first impressions as I was trying the snacks. :3

~ Ginbis Matcha Chocolate Corn Puffs ~

I think I already received these in a regular chocolate flavour before. The flavour of the chocolate matcha isn’t too sweet, it have a slight corn flavour to it too! It’s kind of sweet and salty. The matcha isn’t overpowering or too bitter. The chocolate was also very creamy! :3

~ Strawberry Mochi ~

The Prince and I loooove mochi! And this one was so soft and pretty sweet for a Japanese snack! The taste of the strawberry was a bit artificial but it wasn’t too strong of a taste. Also, the packaging was super cute! ^^

~ Dotaro Crispy Flakes ~

This one tasted a bit like dry ramens and it kind of had the same texture. It have a curry flavour which It isn’t too salty but the savoury spice flavour is kind of strong. They recommend that you put it in your udon or other noodle dishes and I can understand why.

~ Cherry Mochi ~

I loved the cute clear and simple packaging and it opened like a little book. ^^ I wasn’t expecting it to have that texture, it’s a bit more hard then regular mochi. It remind me of the texture of a chewing gum almost? It was a little less sweet than the strawberry mochi and the cherry flavour is very faint.

~ Tohato Caramel Corn Puffs ~

I looooove caramel corn! It’s a sweet and salty snack that taste like savoury popcorn dipped in caramel. :3 It have a puffy texture and it’s just so good! XD It’s one of my favourite Japanese snacks honestly. :3 I’m glad that I got to enjoy it more than one time because when I usually open a regular sized pack I eat it all in one sitting, oops! ^w^’’

~ Sakura Japanese Sake KitKats ~

I already tasted the regular sake one but not the sakura sake one. :3 I believe it’s limited edition for this spring too! When we opened the big package, it smelled SO strongly like sake… XD It really tasted like a mix of sake and very strong cherry blossom flavour. It was really a unique flavour and since there is 12 in the box I can share it with my friends huhu. ^^

~ Ginza Rusk Pink Strawberry Biscuits ~

I wasn’t expecting that texture at all! It was like a hard small biscuit and the strawberry chocolate was almost all melted inside of it! It have a yummy sweet strawberry flavour that is not overpowering. The aftertaste is a bit buttery, like a very yummy butter cookie. :3 I loved it a lot! ~

~ Fanta Yogurt Banana Mix ~

It smelled like the banana medicine that I used to take when I was younger… XD It doesn’t taste as strong as it smells though. The flavour combination is a bit weird but it wasn’t bad… XD There isn’t as much bubbles as the soda we’ve got here. It isn’t very sweet and the flavour is a lot more faint than I thought.

~ Hello Kitty Strawberry Lollipop ~

The packaging… is SO CUTE! XD The strawberry flavour is so yummy, it taste a bit like a cotton candy flavoured strawberry? It isn’t super sweet but it was very yummy anyway. ^^

~ Chobo Chobo Cookies ~

I love the cute little dog on the packaging. ;o; The smell was like a little vanilla cake! It was a very light and crunchy cookie with a little soft vanilla and sweet touch. I would really enjoy those with a simple black tea. ^^

~ New Mochitaro Puffs ~

I looked a bit like konpeito and the taste was a bit salty, kind of oily and « fried ». XD I think that it tasted a bit like chicken spices? It wasn’t too bad but it felt like I was eating fried chicken skin and I didn’t like that? XD;

~ Sugar Rusk Umai Bar ~

It tasted a bit weird… Sweet and salty. It had a strong buttery flavour. It wasn’t as sweet as I thought, the flavour suprised me a bit… I was expecting it to be much more sweeter with that name. ^^’’ But it was quite good. ~

~ Calbee Lightly Salted Chips ~

It… tasted like regular potato chips. XD Except that I think that the potato was tasting a bit stronger than what I am used to. But overall it was just regular potato chips. XD;

~ Strawberry Soft Cream DIY Snack ~

Just put the powder in the container and mix it with water! ^w^

This one was fun to make and super easy! But the texture was a bit weird and it tasted VERY sour/tart. XD; The smell was good and kind of sweet but not the taste haha. XD It least we had the little waffle cone to balance the sourness but the foamy part wasn’t good at all. ^^’’

I usually do my top 3 snacks of the box but it was so hard to pick only 3 this time that I decided to do a top 5! ^w^

Tokyo Treat Box Review! ~ August 2018!

Hello my sweet minty chocolate chips! ~

I got an unexpected Tokyo treat box to review this month! ^w^ (Actually, my subscription is auto renewing each month and I forgot to cancel it for the month of August, oops! ^w^'') But anyway, I got to taste delicious Japanese snacks and you get to read a nice review, yay! ~

The theme this month was "Fruity Ninjas"! There was a lot of snacks themed around fruits this month. ~

Here was all the contents from the box this month! ~

As usual, I tasted the snacks from the box with the Prince and wrote a little review of each of them as I was trying them randomly. ^w^

Melon Bread Cookies Party Pack

There was two flavours in the pack and each cookie was individually wrapped! One flavour was sweet and crunchy and the other was filled with a creamy custard. I loved the texture of the cookie, it tasted a bit buttery and sweet, almost like a sugar cookie but not totally? The outside was crunchy and the inside was a bit more fluffy and crumbly! The one with the custard was smelling a lot like honeydew melon! The custard was very creamy and a bit sweet but not too much! It was very yummy! ^^

Chocolate Mint Caramel Corn

The taste was something like I’ve never tasted before! Caramel corn taste usually a bit salty mixed with sweet and this snack isn’t an exception to that… But with that there is a faint taste of chocolate and a mint flavour which are not overpowering. Even after eating several the mint taste was not bothering me and I usually don't really like mint. XD; It was certainly an interesting flavour to try! ^w^

Cinnamon Apple Pie Umaibo

This umaibo was very interesting too! It had a faint cinnamon and apple flavour and it taste a bit sugary… but a bit tart too? Like the taste from a fresh apple that is still a bit sour? XD; It was very yummy!

Chip Star Lemon Chips

I thought that the lemon flavour would be a bit more overpowering than this… But with the slightly salty taste… I think it combines together very well! It taste a bit like salt and vinegar chips, but without the vinegar smell... It’s a nice refreshing taste!

Disney TsumTsum Chocolate Bar

This chocolate was incredibly good! It tasted like fudge and a little bit of hazelnuts… It had a very fudgy texture. The wafer in the center added just the right amount of crunchy without being overpowering too! And the packaging was super cute! ^w^

Cheese Rice Puffs

It tasted very faintly of cheese with a roasted rice flavour. The texture was extra crunchy but kind of light… It melted in your mouth! We couldn’t really taste the cheese unless we put several in our mouth… It was a bit more salty than the usual Japanese snacks I’m used to.

Fruit Donut Gummy

It tasted a bit sour; like a sour gummy. There was two colours on the donut, yellow and green. The flavour of each side complemented eachother very well! It tasted like citrus fruits and the texture was also nice and light and not too chewy for a gummy candy!

Banana Man Marshmallow

Both the Prince and I found the packaging of this treat so racist… ^w^’’ (But it’s Japan, what would you expect… x___x) Anyway, the marshmallow was shaped like an actual banana! The texture was veeeeery soft and it melted in your mouth! It was kind of coated with white chocolate and there was milk chocolate inside. The mix of the flavours was very yummy. ^^

Shimi Corn Share Pack

We both remembered to have already tasted this snack before! It’s like a rice puff shaped like a star that is coated with chocolate. The chocolate isn’t too sweet and mixes well with the slightly roasted taste of the rice puff! I loved it a lot! :3

Double Lemon Pocky

It had a very faint hint of lemon in the white chocolate… It wasn’t too tangy or overpowering at all! It smelled a bit weird though… But it doesn’t taste like it smells at all. This type of double Pocky is the Prince's favourite kind and it starts to grow on myself too! ^w^

Coca-Cola Clear

It smelled like regular Coca-Cola to me! It kind of tasted like Sprite and Coca-Cola mixed together. It was like regular Coca-Cola but with a hint of lemon. It wasn’t too sweet or overpowering… It's 0 calories and you could really taste the artificial sweetener though. ;w; But it was nice to try!

Fruit Granola Bar Thunder

It was like a granola bar coated with a sweet milk chocolate. It had rice puffs in it and dried fruits which made the texture pretty interesting, it was crunchy and a bit chewy too! It had some grains and seeds in it too! I wish the granola bars here would be that tasty and complex. XD;

Honey Apple Hard Candy

It smelled strongly of honey and tasted like actual apples. It wasn't too sweet or overpowering. It says that it can also be used for sore throat and it definitely had a weird « medicine » taste after a while...

And finally, the DIY candy!

Melon Jelly Drink DIY

We already got this DIY in another snack box before... I think it was my very first Japan Crate back in 2016! XD; I remembered it since it was so sticky and weird... ^w^'' It wasn't very complicated to make, we just had to mix the powder with water in the little bowl. It tasted a lot like artificial honeydew melon… But the texture was incredibly sticky and glue-y. XD; I also think I didn’t mix it well because there was still some sticky clumps in it with leftover powder... ^w^'' The Prince couldn't handle the texture at all and I finished it all in one shot... Yuck! XD;

It was surely interesting to try such new summery flavours in this August box! I was a bit disappointed that we already tried the DIY though... ;w; I also think it would have been interesting to have a bit more salty snacks and more bigger snacks instead of several small ones... ^w^'' Well, I will probably still get another Tokyo Treat box anyway when I'll feel like it, so you can still expect some review from me in the future! ^w^
