52 Weeks of Lolita ~ What is your favourite brand and why?

 Hello my lovely and warm pumpkin spice lattés! ^^;

As you may have seen during the last few weeks I was in a bit of a blogging slump on my blog... But, my friend Érika showed me a blog; Loliprompts! They have all kinds of prompts for blogging and that's exactly what I needed! :3

So today I decided I would start the 52 Weeks of Lolita! I may skip some weeks if I feel like the subject doesn't apply to me or I may post several in a week if the answer to the prompt is on the shorter side! ^w^

~ What is your favourite brand and why? ~

Firstly, if you have been following me for a while, you may notice that I am far from a brandwhore... XD; The reason for that is obvious; The clothing pieces from all the Lolita brands doesn't fit me, at all... I am a very plus-sized person by Lolita fashion standards and I have been for my whole Lolita journey. So that's why I never really felt attached to Japanese brands because of that...

I still have my favourite designs and aesthetics related to Japanese brands though! I also own a couple of non-clothing items from Japanese brands too so I'm going to list my favourites according to that! ^^

I used to really admire Angelic Pretty when I was starting Lolita more than 10 years ago! ^^ It was the golden era of OTT Sweet and that was all that I was about back in the days! XD; I used to dream of their bright coloured prints full of cute animals, candy, stars and hearts! :3 I was very happy when I could get my grabby hands on my first print replica from Angelic Pretty! Finally, I could be as cute and Over The Top as the beautiful girls I would see on their GLB ads and on their website! I didn't have to "settle for less" anymore and that made me incredibly happy! For once I thought I was the Lolita of my dreams, that I was part of that fairytale and that I wasn't going to be the ugly duckling forever... ^^''

However, nowadays I don't think Angelic Pretty is the brand that I look up to the most anymore... I am not up to date with their recent releases and I haven't been for several years. Now that their Sweet OTT goodness have passed I don't have as much interest in them for the past years.

In the past year or so, I would say that my interest kind of shifted towards Baby The Stars Shine Bright! As a lifestyle Lolita, I think that BTSSB is the brand the represent the Lolita lifestyle the most! Who doesn't want to feel like Momoko, right? ^w^ I love their older designs and the pieces that are very reminiscent of Old-School Lolita. ~ I especially have a very soft spot in my heart for all their Usakumya related merch! ^w^

I mean, who doesn't want cute bunny slippers? XD;

Nowadays I think BTSSB would be the brand that I look the most up to! I really wish I could get my hands on more of their non-clothing items in the future! ^^

I also want to mention a couple of other brands that I like but they wouldn't really be my favourites! ~

I love Innocent World and their take on Sweet-Classic! Even their simpler pieces are made with such nice quality materials from what I have seen. In my personal experience, they are the highest quality of all the brands I've got the chance to see in person! I really wish I could order something from them one day, I've also heard that they have amazing customer service! ^w^

I'm sorry but I'm guilty of loving Metamorphose wacky designs! XD; They also have some pretty nice sweet prints too and they are always creative and colourful! :3

I also need to list Mam Maxicimam as an honorable mention, especially because they got exactly ONE dress that could fit me at my current size! ^^''

To be honest, the simpler design doesn't really justify the price for me, (Over 400$ CAD without shipping... ^w^'') however if I had unlimited funds I would probably get it! XD; A girl can dream, right? ^w^''

I also have to finish my honorable mentions with a non-Japanese brand! XD; Especially because that is more accurate to my situation since I actually own 4 dresses from Soufflesong now! ^w^ I would say that if I have to chose one favourite brand clothing wise, it would be them! I love their original prints, their designs and of course the fact that they can offer custom-sized pieces so I can actually wear their clothes! XD;

I'm back on my blog today with my outfits from the end of September! :3

As some of you may know I am on sick leave from work due to mental health reasons until mid-October... I thought I wouldn't dress up as much as I would like but I've been feeling very motivated to dress up nicely each day I need to get out of the house so that's great! ^w^

Most of my outfits are on the more casual side since they were mainly worn for errands or appointments but I still wanted to share them since I've been so proud of myself for dressing up, hehe! ~

I've wanted to put an outfit together around the theme of animals with my deer socks! ^w^ I have mostly bunny themed accessories so that's what I chose for my jewelry. ~ I also tried to use a darker shade of blue to blend with my eyeshadow, it doesn't show a lot but I liked to experiment! :3

I was inspired to wear red on that day since I finally repaired my strawberry wristcuffs! ^^; So I wore my red gingham skirt coordinated with offwhite and straw accessories for a Country Lolita look! ~ I also wore a dark raspberry colour for my eyeshadow since I wanted it to look more red-ish and I think it turned out super nice! :3

I've debated if I wanted to disguise myself as a normie for my mental health appointments but I decided not to in the end! ^^ However I still wanted to be casual but still look Lolita! ~ I coordinated my plain lilac skirt with my peachy pink cutsew and simple accessories for a casual but still cute outfit! :3

So that was my outfits from the last few weeks! ~ My posting schedule might be a little wonky for the next weeks during my sick leave but I still want to post as much as I can since it's something I really enjoy! ^w^ Ideally I want to get back to posting twice a week, that would be awesome! *v* I'm gonna try my best! ~

Lifestyle Lolita 101! ~ The Values of the Lolita Lifestyle & The Princess Code!

 Hello my wonderful gold sprinkles! ^^;

I'm back on my blog today with my second to last post from my Lifestyle Lolita 101 series! ~ This is going to be a bit of a smaller post this time but I wanted to include it anyway! :3

This time, I'm going to share the values of the Lolita Lifestyle! ~

*Please keep in mind that these are only for information and inspirationnal purposes! You don't need to preach all those values to be a lifestyle Lolita! These are just the most common associated with the lifestyle and also the ones that personally inspire me the most so it's very subjective! ^w^

The first value that usually come to our mind when we think about Lolita is of course Elegance. ~ Not only in the way of being and presenting yourself to the world in an elegant way but also on the attention to details in general!

Next is Modesty. ~ When we talk about modesty, it's more oriented towards not wearing clothes that are super revealing of the body. I would even say that is kind of a desexualization of the body by wearing clothes that doesn't put the emphasis on that.

The third and fourth one I put them together because they kind of mean the same thing; Politeness and Courtesy! Lolitas already stand out a lot because of the way we are dressed so I think it's important to be very polite with people in general because we are kind of representing the community as a whole! It's also best to be courteous and have a basic knowledge on etiquette and decorum, it is helpful when going out to fancy venues too! ^^

The next one is Kindness! ~ It's a value that is very important in general for everyone, but I think it suits the Lolita Lifestyle so well! No one wants to be seen as mean or hurt people for no reason... Giving genuine compliments, being present for your friends during time of hardships and being generally a kind and positive soul is such a nice value to have. :3

Kind of linked to kindness, the other one is Generosity! The Lolita community is most of the time a very tight knit community and we share a lot of our time, efforts and ressources together! ~ Lolitas that are always ready to help out newbies in need, share informations or tips about the fashion and also give a lot of their personal time into their local communities and planning meetups are very generous by nature. ^w^

I also put the second to last ones together because they also go hand in hand; Knowledge and Learning! The world of Lolita fashion and Lifestyle is one that is very complex and even if all the information is easily available; you must read, watch and learn a lot to get the fashion and the basics right! ~ Also, most of the Lolitas are very academic people; They might like to learn a new language or hobby like calligraphy or embroidery or read about history and know their classical literature and poetry for exemple.

Finally, the last one but not the least; Creativity! ^w^ Lolitas are also very creative people, either by putting together different coords which is an art in itself, but also by having hobbies that are very focused on art and creation! ~

In this post, I also wanted the share the Princess Code! ~ The Princess Code was an inspiring list of aspiration which marked a lot of Lifestyle Lolitas back in the days since it was written over a decade ago! I think that the Princess Code really summarizes the values of the Lolita Lifestyle so that's why I wanted to include it here! ^w^

I planned that outfit very much on a whim because I didn't plan on dressing up that much but I had a sudden inspiration... ^^'' I usually don't wear cutsews under jumperskirts because I thought that it would mix "casual" with "dressed up" too much... But I tried that outfit and I really liked it... ;w; I paired my red Anna House jumperskirt with my short sleeved pink cutsew and simple accessories. ~ I don't know if it totally works together but I felt very comfy and cute going out shopping on that day! ^w^

So that was my latest outfits! ~ I can't wait to put together more outfits with my new Soufflesong pieces and I've felt very inspired for my outfits lately so that's awesome! :3
