I'm back on my blog today with something I had an idea for quite a while but I wasn't sure if my cutesy lifestyle Lolita blog would be a good place to write about it... XD; But since I personally see gaming and videogames as part of my Lolita lifestyle I thought I would give it a go! ~ Hope you don't mind, or better, enjoy it! :3
This blog post was heavily inspired by a post I saw on Facebook that invited people to share their top 5 videogames that were important for them during their childhood and teenage years and I thought that would be such a nice idea for a blog post, but I wanted to include ALL the videogames that were/are important to me! ^w^
So here it it! With a little blurb as of why they are important to me! Some of them have longer stories than others but I just wanted to weeb out and chat about videogames, enjoy! XD;
~ 10 Videogames that had an impact in my life! ~
~ Pokémon Yellow (Game Boy Color) ~
Pokémon Yellow was the first videogame I ever owned and played! I remember asking for the game and a Game Boy Color for my 7th birthday and it was such a big hype back in the days! I had a lot of trouble playing at it first since it was in english and as a good french speaking Quebecer kid I didn't knew or learned english yet... XD; So I pretty much started to learn english with that game. I would be very much trying things randomly though, memorizing the attacks and what they would do since I didn't knew what they would mean... ^^'' It was very much my first dip into gaming and I really have no regrets, I still love that game the same even today! ~
~ Donkey Kong Country (SNES) ~
This game is probably one of my favourite games from the SNES! I used to play it pretty much every week with one of the friends I made in the last year of elementary school. Together we were the best duo, her in Donkey and me in Diddy! XD; And after the numerous sleepovers and gaming nights at her place, she also helped me finish the game at my place (since both her and I had the cassette!). ^^; I remember just loving the graphics, the music and the themes, there was so much hidden stuff in the maps too! ~ But the best thing I remember about this game was the precious memories I made with that friend on that year. :3
~ Pokémon Stadium (N64) ~
I never had a Nintendo 64 but I would play this game religiously with my neighbor in elementary school! XD; The thing that is kind of sad and kind of funny is that since it was her brother's game, he told us we couldn't play the part of the game where the Pokémon would fight against eachother? XD; And I don't know why he told us that... I feel like maybe he imported the Pokémon from his gameboy game or he just had a really nice team and he didn't want us to wreck it? XD; Anyway, the thing is we would JUST play the minigames, for hours at a time, and we wouldn't get bored! ^^'' These were so addictive and I would always be hype to play it at her place every week! ~
~ Mario Kart Double Dash (Gamecube) ~
For christmas when I was in 4th grade, I received a Gamecube! ^^; Shortly after I received that game and it became my favourite game from the Gamecube and it's also my favourite Mario Kart game even nowadays! I have played this game SO FREAKING MUCH! ><'' I was obsessed with it, the characters combos, the matching karts, everything was looking so wonderful to me as a child! XD; I was so obsessed with this game that I have to admit that I did give an oral presentation on that game in 5th grade, this is probably why I didn't have many friends, hahaha! ^w^''
~ Super Smash Bros Melee (Gamecube) ~
This game was one of the games I would play the most when I would visit my cousin's place when I was in elementary school! ^^ I have so many fond memories of it from when we would fight against eachother and I would pretty much always be the one that was losing but I was playing with them so I had fun! ^^; Later when I was in highschool they decided to sell their Gamecube (or a few of their games, I don't really remember) and they sold it to me (along with Mario Party 5) because I loved it so much and for all the memories it would bring me! ^^ I still own and play the game to this day! :3
~ Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova 2 (PS2) ~
For the record I didn't owned a PS2 or this game when I would have the most fond memories attached to it! ^^'' I started to play this game at a friend's house during our 2nd or 3rd year of highschool and I LOVED it! >< She would show me all the tricks to be better at it and more efficient so I could finish the songs more easily! After that I made another friend during my 4th year of highschool that happened to have that game too so I borrowed his PS2 and the game from him and I played everyday for the month he lent it to me! XD; It was such a new world to me because I was moving/exercising and it wouldn't feel like it! I remember being so sore for days after playing for hours but I couldn't stop playing it, it was so addictive! ^^'' Recently the Prince got a PS2 and he bought me the game and the dance mat so I could relive my highschool DDR hype! XD;
~ Pokémon Sapphire (Game Boy Advance) ~
There is quite a story behind the game, haha! XD; Well, I never owned a Game Boy Advance but I did have this game! Actually, my mom found it at the mall, still in a Walmart shopping bag when we went to the cinema together once when I was in my 2nd year of highschool I think... She brought it to me and was like "I don't know if you can do anything with it but it's Pokémon so you should like it!" The thing is, I didn't owned a Game Boy Advance so I kind of kept the game in it's packaging for a couple of years... Until I realized that I had the Game Boy player thing that would connect on my Gamecube... In which I could indeed play Game Boy Advance games!! XD So during the last year of highschool, when the Pokémon hype really died and I would be pretty much the only one from my friend group that would still like Pokémon... I started to play this game! ^^ And to this day it's still my favourite Pokémon game, I love it so much! ~
~ Animal Crossing New Leaf (3DS) ~
A little preface; when I started wearing Lolita when I was in college, I kind of pushed aside gaming as a hobby while I was building up my closet. After all these years when I started university, I wanted to get back into that hobby... So I knew that the most recent Pokémon Game (X and Y at the time) would get released on the 3DS so I thought I would get a 3DS... And I had the money saved for the console in September and Pokémon X and Y wouldn't get released until November... So I asked for games recommendation on Facebook since I was going to get the console early anyway and I was kind of out of the loop when it came to gaming... And a lot of people recommended me this game! ^^; Honestly, it was a life changer to me! ;w; I loved it SO MUCH, the designs, the softness, the cute villagers, the fact that it's a very chill game and there is no rush, no competition, no big monsters to beat up, etc... I remember being in my first semester at university and I would turn people down from hanging out BECAUSE ALL I WANTED WAS TO BE HOME AND PLAY ANIMAL CROSSING WITH MY CATS ON MY COUCH!! XDD; This game helped me get through my first year in university; when I would feel alone, started to have anxiety problems and I had no one to hang out with (probably because I would always turn them down, jk XD). I would turn on the game, talk to my villagers and that was the proof that it was all going to be okay! <3
~ Style Savvy: Styling Star (3DS) ~
I started playing the Style Savvy series after my friend Érika lended me the first one, Trendsetters, and I was hooked! XD; It's a fashion game when you own a little boutique and there is actual Lolita fashion clothes and shops in it, what else could I ask for? XD; It's one of the games I played the most on my 3DS (other than New Leaf lol) and I played so much in such a short time because I loved it so much! ;w; I actually got that game when I was in recovery from the surgery I got around two years ago... So it allowed me to dressup and create outfits even when I wasn't able to wear the fashion that I love and it really helped me to stay happy and motivated towards fashion! ^^;
~ Pokémon Ultra Moon (3DS) ~
The last one on my list but really not the least! ^^; Honestly, this game didn't make the cut because I particularly enjoyed it as a game; even if the quality of life improvements from the previous Pokémon games are there. I included it because it's the game that would represent the beginning of my journey as one of the Gym Learders from our local Pokémon league! ^^; I love friendship and I love having fun and one of the things I will always remember is our first event during the SagGeek last year where I was being challenged and giving out my personal badge to the trainers that would have defeated me! ~ It was really such a nice and wholesome thing to do and it was my first steps towards competition battles in Pokémon! I learned a lot in a short time (and honestly I still have a lot to learn!) but it was such an awesome experience and I will never forget it! :3
I hope you liked this little gaming post, it was a new format for me but I really enjoyed weebing out about videogames since it takes a big part of my life in general and I like talking and sharing about it! ^^;
Until next time my sweet purple donuts, be safe and take care! <3
