Tokyo Treat Review! ~ February 2020!

Hello my wonderful glittery hearts! ~

I'm back on my blog today with something I haven't done in a while, a Tokyo Treat Review! ^w^

Sometimes I forget that I'm subscribed to the Tokyo Treat box and I forget to cancel my suscription for the month and it's kinda what happened here but I don't mind too much... XD; I've got some yummy and cute snacks to review for you! :3

The theme this month was; Share the Love! There was a lot of chocolate and strawberry themed snacks in this box and I'm happy because that's two flavours that I like. ~

Here is everything that was in the box this month! ^^;

So as I usually do, I wrote a little review of my first impressions as I was trying the snacks with the Prince. :3

~ Strawberry Heart Marshmallow ~

The taste of strawberry is faint and not overpowering. The packaging is cute too. It tasted like natural strawberry, not artificial. I liked those and I put some in my mocha coffee too which was good! ^^;

~ Strawberry Softserve ~

The marshmallow part was kinda hard and there was a strawberry filling inside that was very sour… XD; There was also a kind of powder in the bottom which was also sour. The cone part was good though but not very flavourful... ^^''

~ Veggie Hearts ~

There was 3 flavours of chips, the green one was green pepper and spinach, the yellow one was kabocha squash and yellow pepper, and the red one was carrot, red pepper and tomato. The chips were very flavourful but were not salty at all! I think that made the flavour of the veggie stand more. My favourite was the red ones! ^^;

~ Bubby Choco Stick ~

It was so good! Like puffed corn filled with chocolate between the bubbles. The packaging is so cute too! ^^;

~ Strawberry Daifuku Kitkats ~

I feel like it really taste like strawberry daifuku!! You can taste the red bean paste and the mochi too. It isn’t too strong though and it isn’t too sweet. So good!

~ Caramel Corn ~

If you know me, you know that I really love caramel corn!! It’s a snack that is a mix between sweet and salty, it taste like peanuts/peanut butter with a faint taste of caramel. It’s my favourite snack ever!!

~ Caplico Strawberry & Chocolate Hearts ~

The flavour was super light and yummy. The texture is also nice and bubbly. It was so good and creamy!!

~ Koala's March Strawberry ~

The strawberry flavour is so good and the cookie is very crunchy, just as I like. :3 The packaging also was very cute. I love Koala’s March! ^^;

~ Honey and Apple Pure Gummies ~

It was very sour at first but after the first bites the taste of honey and apple taste mix together and the gummy in itself is sweet. I didn’t really like them that much but I can say that it was a nice fancy taste overall. XD;

~ Blendy Stick Hojicha Café au Lait ~

This was kind if like a hot chocolate/instant coffee. It smelled strongly of black tea. It tasted sweet, a bit like caramel. I had it with a bit of milk because I thought it would be yummier. XD; It was mostly like a hot chocolate but in tea form, I’ve never had anything like that and it was very yummy and I loved to try it hehe. ^^;

~ Strawberry and Milk Cream Cake ~

First of all, it didn’t look at all like the picture on the package? XD; It was a bit disappointing... ^w^''

However the cake in itself was delicious! The texture of the cake was nice and fluffy, not grainy. The strawberry filling was sweet but not too overpowering. It was creamy and good. ^^;

~ Dragon Chips ~

These were SO GOOD!! The flavour was butter and tarako (which I think is a type of fish eggs?). The buttery flavour really mixed well with the tarako flavour. The texture was crunchy and good and the shape was fun too! The packaging is also super cute! It’s the perfect snack to me! ^w^

~ Strawberry Choco Balls ~

I feel like I had these before in another snack box? The texture was a bit crispy, there was a little bit of « corn » inside. I couldn’t really taste the chocolate or the strawberry flavour though... ^^'' But the corn inside was good, it tasted a bit like toasted/roasted corn. XD; It was a bit sweet but not too sweet either. I was expecting something a bit more strawberry flavoured honestly. ^^''

~ Uncle Pierre's Roll Cake ~

The texture was nice, the filling was creamy, the taste of strawberry wasn’t too overpowering and it wasn’t too sweet. The cake in itself was very good, it tasted like vanilla and natural. However the filling wasn’t pink like on the packaging and it was… kind of ugly looking. XD;

~ Chocobat ~

This one was weird… XD It was like a stick of bread dipped in chocolate? XD; The texture was very bread-ish too… The chocolate was good though but it was bit disappointing to be honest. XD;

~ Black Thunder ~

This one was impressive! It was like a very crunchy cookie dipped in chocolate. The chocolate flavour was really nice, it tasted like strong cocoa! It was a bit more sweet and flavourful than the other candies from Japan I am used to. The texture was crunchy and it was really nice!

~ Aji Cheese Chips ~

The texture was super light but a bit crunchy. It tasted mostly like toasted corn and very lightly of cheddar cheese. It was good. ^^;

I usually do my and the Prince's top 3 for each box! ^w^

Anime Review! ~ Sanrio Danshi!

Hello my lovely heart shaped chocolates! :3

Today I am back on my blog with something I haven't done in a little while, an anime review! ^w^

The anime I'm going to review today is; Sanrio Danshi! I wanted to review this anime because I really enjoyed it even if it wasn't my usual style of anime and I wanted to share my feelings about it! XD;

As usual, I'll try my best to make it spoiler free! :3

~ Sanrio Danshi! ~

Sanrio Danshi or Sanrio Boys is a slice of life/school life anime that aired in Winter 2018! It's a 12 episodes anime. ~

Story

The story centers about Kouta, a high school boy that used to like Pompompurin when he was younger. One day as he discovers that some other highschool boys like Sanrio characters too, he connect back with his love of the character and cute things in general. We follow mainly his story but also the backstory and life of 4 others boys who each like a different Sanrio character and by the middle of the season they join together in a sweet "Sanrio Boys" squad and do stuff together. ~

I think that the story in itself is nicely put together. In the first half of the series you follow Kouta backstory for a couple episodes and after that there is the backstory of each of the boys and their relation with their specific Sanrio character. You learn to know about them bit by bit and it's nicely paced. The second half of the series is more centered about their dynamic as a group, their relations together and their journey toward an event they decided to do together. :3

Art

For me, the art is probably one of weakest point of the anime. It's not necessarily bad but it's not an art style that I am used to personally. The backgrounds are often quite minimal. I also think that the character expressions are sometime lacking in intensity, especially their eyes... There is also these times where they put the emphasis on something by making a little "frame" of the action in the animation. It was interesting in itself but I personally didn't really like it as it's not something I am used to and I found it more distracting than anything else... XD;

Sound

The opening/ending weren't that impressive to me, they were nice but a bit generic. Same thing with the music used through the anime, they didn't stood out particularly to me... The character voices were fitting nicely, none of them were grating and they suited their specific character personalities.

Characters

To me, the characters and especially the character development is the main reason I liked that anime and I wanted to review it! XD; Each of them have such unique and complex personalities, it was so nice to see their story unfold in the beginning of the series. They all have their personal story linked to their favourite Sanrio character and it was so sweet and nice to see them talk about it and being emotional about it! ;o; I also thought that the moral each of them show in their specific personal story are so, so important!

Enjoyment

I really enjoyed the anime overall! I never thought I would like it that much (even if it was about something as cute as Sanrio) because the art style isn't so cute and bubbly. Even with that, the show in itself isn't too overly sweet either! I usually don't watch a lot of anime that have more boy characters than girls because I usually don't relate to it as much and they are usually less complex but Sanrio Boys proved me wrong. XD;

Also, it made me realize that we shouldn't ever be ashamed of something that bring us joy or that helps us thrive in our daily life... And I already knew that but that show made such an impact on me in that department that I really recommend it if you struggle with self-affirmation and self-confidence. :3

Overall I give Sanrio Danshi a rating of 9 out of 10!

I hope you enjoyed my review of Sanrio Boys! I can't wait to do some other anime reviews in the near future, I really love doing those! :3

Until next time my fluffy purple sheeps, take care! ~
