Today I decided to continue my Lifestyle Lolita 101 series that I started a bit ago! In this blog post today I will share some inspirations and ideas about how you can "Lolify" and embellish your everyday life! ^^; I hope these may inspire you in your daily life if you want to incorporate a bit more of lifestyle Lolita elements to it! ~
~ "Lolify" and embellish your everyday life! ~
If you want to incorporate more Lolita elements into your daily life, ask yourself; What would a refined little girl or the nobility from another era would have in place of that object that would fulfill the same function but would be much more cuter and elegant?
~ Cute or antique furniture
You can try to DIY or repaint some old or thrifted furniture or embellish them with wallpaper, ribbons or lace trims. You can also try to make or buy covers for your chairs and couch... Or if you are on a pinch some cute or elegant sheets and pillowcases can also be used and you can thrift them too!
~ Curtains in place of blinds
They are much more elegant, just as functional and they are quite easy to make too! You can also tie them with some fancy tassels or ribbons during the day!
~ A pretty and intricate carpet
Some of them come in cute and fun shapes! You can have a small one for the place where you take outfit pictures and maybe a big statement one in the center of your room.
~ Decorative pillows and blankets
For your bed, your couch or just to decorate the corner of a room for a little reading nook if you like!
~ Fairy-lights and chandeliers
They are quite easy to find online or at the thrift store and they are less pricy than they seem! Fairy-lights are great as a night light around your bedroom. That's what I have around my bed! For the chandeliers if the colours doesn't suit your personal style, you can easily paint it and add embellishments to it!
~ Plushies, dolls and toys to decorate your living space
Some Lolitas like to collect retro, vintage or antique toys and plushies. They are very aesthetic and fun to have on display! ^^;
~ Artwork on the walls or a statement wallpaper
I like to support artist that make interesting pieces that matches the Lolita aesthetic or fanart of my favourite fandoms! If you want to "up your game" aesthetically I would suggest putting a frame around them and it will make any artwork seem more fancy! :3
~ An intricate tablecloth and a nice centerpiece
For all the tables around your house! Crochet centerpieces are quite easy to thrift and they can change the look of any table! ^^ You can also keep interesting trinkets on display as centerpieces.
~ A set of towels you can keep on display
For tea towels, hand towels, face towels, etc... I found some nice ones at geeky conventions I went to! You don't have to always use them but it's something nice to have on display, especially if they have a nice design or pretty embroidery on them!
~ An aesthetic tableware and cutlery set and actually using it
Sometimes when you have some pretty and fancy tableware you are more inclined to keep them on display and not really use them... But I've found some flowery antique ones at a flea market for a fraction of what they would sell online, keep an eye out for it and you may find some treasures!
~ Decorate with flowers, either real ones or fake ones
If you have the luxury of being able to have a pretty real flower bouquet on display it can brighten any room and add a nice natural fragrance to it also! But fake flowers are just as good too; you can change them to match your mood or your decor! It's nice to curate a perfectly balanced eternal bouquet for your living space and you can also send subtle messages to your guests with the language of flowers! ^^;
~ Add some charms/keychains on your bags, cellphone, portable game consoles, etc...
They are very cute and some brands have released some also, I have a BTSSB one! You can also try to find a phone case or a protective cover for your portable game console that would fit your Lolita aesthetic too!
~ Carrying Lolita-like things for when you are on the go
A nice handkerchief instead of some tissues, a flowery hand fan for sunny days, a nice pocket mirror instead of using your phone's camera, old-fashioned candies and mints (I love les Anis de Flavigny and the packaging is so aesthetic!), a pocket size book to read on idle times, a small pocket notebook to use as a journal, a small sewing kit (You can try and find some vintage/retro ones in thrift shops), a small "powder pouch" for when you need to reapply your makeup during the day, etc...

~ Using cute or elegant stationary
Pretty pens and pencils, fountain pens are very lifestyle Lolita, cute notebooks/notepads you can take on the go in your purse, school supplies, etc... The "Jolie" collection by Hilroy are very Lolita and they are pretty easy to find in mainstream stores, I had this collection for my schoolwork since college!
~ Use products that have cute or elegant packaging
I cannot resist a cute packaging; when something comes in a nice flowery or vintage container I got to have it! ^^'' You can also reuse the packaging for something else when the product will be finished!
~ Use candles, melts, perfumes or essential oils
Having an olfactory dimension that you associate with the lifestyle is another way to make your home more Lolita-like! You can also try to make your own pot-pourri for your closets! And if else fails; you can toss some cookies in the oven for that delightful sweet bakery smell! ^^;
~ Keep trinkets and pretty objects on display to decorate your living space
Music boxes, pocket watches, snow globes, interesting magasines or picture books, accessories and jewelry, hand fans, parasols, hats, crowns, hand mirrors, postcards, repurposed packaging, etc... They can make pretty nice decorations if used wisely! Don't be afraid of going overboard with it, it will only add to the opulence and the majesty of your decor!
~ Put on some Loliable music when you are at home
Wether it's classical music, Lo-Fi, Visual-kei or 50's pop, putting on some music that you associate with Lolita and the lifestyle can make your place feel more lively and complete! There's also no shame to burst out into a song as if you were in a musical while cooking dinner! ^^;
~ Try to match your utility objects to your style
Funny enough my favourite place to find aesthetic but useful objects for my daily lifestyle is the dollar store! In spring/summer they have such a wide variety of pastel and kitch objects for Easter and Valentine's day and Gothic Lolitas can go take a look during Halloween time to find some spooky dark treasures for their home!
~ Use "typical Lolita elements" as storage or for display
Around the house I tend to keep "not so aesthetic things" into more aesthetic ones; I've used teapots as storage and and teacups to keep some stuff on display on my vanity. I even use a pastry stand to display my daily headbows and my plushie bag charm collection! Porcelain jars are also good to keep things out of sight and they are very Lolita indeed!
~ Wear "Loliable" clothes when you aren't able to wear Lolita
A nice frilly/lacy nightgown or a cute/kitchy graphic tee with some bloomers makes some nice pajamas! You can try and find an 50's style swimsuit and some brands even released bikinis in the past! A frilly pastel parka along with pastel sweatpants for working out, etc...
Overall, it's all about filling your daily life with practical everyday objects that matches the Lolita aesthetic!
These are pretty much all the tips I could think about or gather with my research! ^^; Keep in mind that these are more for inspiration and you don't need to do all of them in order to be a lifestyle Lolita! It's just to help you bring more of the Lolita spirit into your daily lives! ~
In my next post for this series, I'll cover activities and hobbies that matches the Lolita lifestyle! ^^;
Until next time my yummy lavender cupcakes, stay safe and take care! :3
